Harbor Moving was founded in 2014 in Boston, MA by Edward Perkins, a former logistics worker with hands-on experience in moving and transportation. With one truck and a clear goal — provide reliable, affordable moving services — Harbor Moving began by helping families relocate within Boston, MA.

Harbor Moving was founded in 2014 by Edward Perkins in Boston, MA. One truck. Two people. Focus — local residential moves: apartments, houses, student jobs. No marketing. Direct bookings only.
2016 – Interstate Expansion
Started interstate moves. Added insurance. Took on small piano and equipment jobs. Fleet: 2 trucks. Team: 5 movers. Scheduling improved.
2018 – Commercial Services
Entered commerical sector. Moved offices, tech setups, and furniture. Bought tools for assembly and handling. Created protocols. Hired dispatcher.
2020 – Pandemic Response
Demand dropped. Switched to no-contact estimates. Focused on essentials: local, flexible, small crew jobs. No layoffs. Short-term storage added.
2021 – System Upgrade
Launched online booking. Added GPS tracking, status updates. Training expanded: white glove moving, fragile items, high-value pool table handling.
2022 – Specialized Services
Launched senior and student packages. Efficient crew rotation. Compact vehicle routes. Higher booking rate for 1-bedroom apartment jobs.
2023 – Scaling Efficiently
15,000+ jobs. 12 vehicles. No major marketing. Focus: quality, damage rate, client retention. Launched last minute move option for local routes.
2024 – Current Status
Mid-sized, not dominant. Offers consistent long distance, piano, and appartement relocations. Insurance coverage standard. Low damage rate. Team operates in 3 states.
